Cassadee pope goes solo 

CassIsBadass recently had the honor of talking with Cassadee Pope about her upcoming tour, unfortunately this time there is no audio, but here is what she has to say about her upcoming tour and solo musical career!!

1. What made you decide to branch out and try a solo project?

Things with HM started to slow down, and I’m very hyper active. I never stop writing or trying to make plans for the future. Afterall, I’m a singer/songwriter! So this was something that I truly wanted to explore. If I didn’t at least try it out, I’d always wonder what would’ve happened. This is NOT a side project. I’m going full throttle with it and I couldn’t be more excited.

2. You’ll be doing some Hey Monday songs on your tour, are you going to change up the composition at all? Or just play the songs as you normally would have played them acoustically with the boys?

I haven’t really thought of changing up the composition. This will be my first time playing with a whole different band so that might be something cool to try! For the most part I want to keep the songs true to how they’ve always been.

3. Will you be recording & putting out any solo songs before or after your tour?

There are no plans as of right now to release solo songs before the tour. However, I do plan on releasing stuff after. Things are still in the very early stages and I’m not comfortable showing any unfinished demos!

4. The ballads you sang on the Christmas EP really showed off your vocal range & you mentioned that you were going to play some new songs that you’ve been working on as a solo artist, will there be any ballads?

There will definitely be ballads! I love them too much to stay away. :)

5. Besides this upcoming tour, what other plans do you have for both yourself and for your band ‘Hey Monday’?

I plan on releasing an album as Cassadee Pope and playing more shows in 2012. I’ll also have merch available! Nothing is planned yet for HM. We’re not “over” by any means. But I do want to put all my focus on my solo career.
